My friends and I have a lot in common, one of those things being we are all guilty of getting a little bit spend happy when it comes to the student loan times of year. For a short time we are living the high life, rocking our new shoes and buying rounds – for the table next to us too, but after three or so weeks we soon realise we are (obviously) living way beyond our means, and it therefor its time to cut back and apply for more shifts at work. One of the larger pockets of money that is quick to go is on clothes. As someone who loves to express themselves through clothes and fashion, it’s expensive to keep up with trends and constantly come out with new innovative outfits. Clothes swapping allows us to refresh and update our wardrobes by swapping what we no longer wear for what others no longer wear, one mans trash is another mans treasure. Not only is clothes swapping better for our wallets and much more accessible to many people than buying new clothes outright, but it is also better for our earth! The fashion industry produces around 10 percent of annual global carbon emissions, The less waste we produce, the kinder to the environment we are being, so why not swap your old clothes instead of throwing them away?! Luckily there are platforms in which we can do this…
If you haven’t been already, I introduce you to Don’t Shop, Swap, a platform in which clothes swapping is made easy and fun. You simply send the clothes you want to swap to the lovely girls at Don’t Shop, Swap headquarters where they will sort your clothes at the office and upload your garms on to the website, making your life super easy. Whilst they are sorting through your clothes they will also value your clothes and drop however many coins you have acquired from your swap bag into your virtual wallet which is online and is what you use to purchase other items swapped in on the website.
Here we have me rocking my suit that I swapped on Don’t Shop, Swap back in 2021. It’s giving girlboss. I have paired this pinstriped woman’s suit with a long sleeve asymmetric top from weekday, an old tie I have used as a neck scarf, a pair of boots from faith which I got off Vinted and a bag that was given to me by my boyfriends mum which she got in Ibiza!
The website itself is super easy to use and will take you through step by step on how to upload, gain coins and swap your clothes for others.
