Why We Are Launching the Beyond the Screen Campaign
In today’s fast-paced digital world, young people are more anxious and disconnected than ever. Studies show that half of UK millennials and Gen Zs experience frequent stress, facing challenges like economic uncertainty, social inequality, and environmental concerns. At the same time, Gen Z’s screen time has surged by 76% since COVID-19, contributing to what many experts call a “loneliness epidemic.” In fact, 73% of Gen Z report feeling lonely, a condition that experts warn can be as harmful as smoking 15 cigarettes a day.
It’s time to break this cycle. Beyond the Screen is a movement designed to reconnect young Londoners with nature, their city, and each other. We’re inviting them to step away from their screens, explore the green spaces around them, and embrace real-life experiences.
Through this campaign, we encourage young people to visit Hampstead Heath, capture the beauty of the outdoors, and share their moments on Instagram or TikTok with #BeyondtheScreen while tagging @BEYONDtheSCREEN. By engaging in this initiative, participants will not only rediscover the joy of nature but also have the chance to win exclusive outdoor gear bundles from Arc’teryx.
