A bit from us about why we’re doing this.

London’s green spaces will host this new exciting youth program. The program focuses on reminding young people how important nature is and the benefits it has for one’s mental health. With a focus on its grounding effects and its ability to diminish stress, this initiative can be seen as a ‘natural meditation 101’ put across in a simple way which isn’t intimidating as many mental health services can be. Through the sport of frisbee, all you need to do is rock up; Frisbees and t-shirts will be provided as well as burgers afterwards. There’s something to be said about the benefits of going outside meeting new faces and having a great time!

Recent studies show that 50% of young people feel anxious and stressed a lot of the time, this combined with screen usage going up 76% during and post covid is why we need to do something about it.  Furthermore, many young people admit to feeling pressurised to dress/act a certain way from what they see on social media. This alienation may lead to a generational identity crisis. The whole point of our program is to persuade people to disconnect from social media and connect with like-minded people in a real-world setting. As well as promoting mindful habits we also want our community to be a space of safety and belonging. Our team is built from local volunteers who have witnessed the demise of a generation’s mood and have a genuine want to make a change. We came up with the frisbee concept after playing it in the park one day and realising that if you’re good or bad its such good fun and a great outdoor activity. However, for frisbees to be provided across London we needed the help of a sponsor which is where Carhartt come into play. Carhartt is providing t-shirts and frisbees to start the movement as well as allowing us to use their voice to create engagement about the initiative. Carhartt agreed as they sponsor many young musicians and skateboarders and were horrified when they understood our concerns about gen z, as a brand supported and inspired by young people it’s in their best interests to support this mission.
