Today we are speaking with a south London local who went to the practice sessions whilst we were organising the event.
So tell us how you found the your first session and would you recommend it.
-I think Fris-Free is a great concept , there are no other organisations bringing awareness to the mental health of Gen-z in the context of sports. Fris Free have managed to do this seamlessly. As a young person myself I find it hard opening up about my emotions and recognising when i’m struggling mentally. Although , their purpose is to help with mental health the session had no real mention of it which made for a very chilled and laid back experience.
-We started the session by getting know each others names and where we all came from, after this we moved onto a series of ‘ice breaker’ games. The main game we played was throwing a frisbee around and every time you caught it you’d ask a someone in the group a question.
-Once we had broken the ice the person running the session went on to explain the basics of ultimate frisbee which led us to splitting into two groups and playing our own version with more ‘relaxed’ rules.
– Although we were all fairly new to the sport we all tried our best and bonded whilst doing so, we met as strangers and left as a newly formed family. I recommend it to anyone who’s looking for a reason to go outside more. Its free, fun and easy.
