In 2022, Adidas started a journey of discovery into nature with the launch of the first part of the ‘walk a new path’ campaign. Now the campaign continues Adidas’ original idea of sustainability. In this new beginning, we will continue to listen to and explore the stories of young people who love sports and spending time in nature, and how they feel about returning to nature after the pandemic. Through this campaign, we aim to encourage more young people to experience how embracing nature can help them effectively and sustainably reduce the stress of living and enjoy a healthier lifestyle.
During the first lockdown period, when we were suffering from the panic of ‘enforced confinement’, we started to realize how small the living space had become and how boring life without entertainment was with the closure of bars, restaurants, cinemas, gyms and swimming pools. Before that, no one would have thought that daily outdoor exercise had become a luxury. We were starting to miss the summer of 2019 when the weather was sunny and we walked in parks, hiked mountains, cycled in fields and enjoyed green spaces. Even before that, many people rejected outdoor activities, believing that they only belonged to a specific group of people. however, the pandemic has changed how we think about outdoor exercises helped us reconnect with our communities and demonstrated the importance of green spaces for our bodies and minds. This ‘special’ year has provided us with an unprecedented level of motivation to exercise outdoors more than ever before.
To better help the younger generation get back into the green space, Adidas will initiate our ‘walk a new path’ campaign, carried out both online and offline. On the 28th of December 2022, we will hold the ‘walk a new path’ Marathon race at Primrose Hill in London at 2 pm. We welcome young people aged between 18-25 to take part in the race. Registration for this event will be opened on Adidas’ official website until the 14th of December. We also offer the following prizes: the first, second and third place in the race will receive $500, $300, $100 vouchers provided by Adidas respectively. In addition, as a brand that highly values environmental protection, Adidas pledges to donate to the UK National Parks Foundation to protect natural parks across the UK. The donation amount is directly proportional to the number of people participating in the event.
We fully understand young people who are far from Primrose Hill are unable to participate in the offline event despite they would like to. To provide them with equal opportunity for participation, we issue a #WalkANewPath online contest on Instagram as the essential part of our big event. To take part in the event, you only need to post a short video of you running in the green space wearing Adidas products on your Instagram account with hashtag #WalkANewPath. We will select five winners and award them a prize of $200 each. The selected videos will also be featured on the Adidas website as promotional videos. As with the offline campaign, we will donate to the UK National Parks Foundation to protect natural parks based on the number of online participants.
