Invited psychologist to present the 0.05% Alcohol Project

“Another Round” is a 2020 Danish film directed by Thomas Vinterberg. The movie follows the lives of four high school teachers who experiment with the theory that they will improve their lives by maintaining a constant level of alcohol in their blood. The introduction of the alcohol plan in the movie refers to the characters’ decision to maintain a consistent level of blood alcohol content (BAC) throughout the day to achieve a state of mild intoxication.
The plan is based on the real-life theory of Norwegian psychiatrist Finn Skårderud, who argues that humans are born with a blood alcohol deficit and that a BAC of 0.5% is the ideal level for maximum creativity and productivity. The main character, Martin, is intrigued by this theory and suggests that he and his friends try it out for a while.
As the characters begin to implement the plan, they experience a range of emotions and consequences, both positive and negative. They find that they have increased confidence and are more social and relaxed when they are slightly drunk. However, they also experience some negative effects, such as poor decision-making and conflicts with their loved ones.
Overall, the introduction of the alcohol plan in “Another Round” serves as a commentary on the role of alcohol in modern society and raises questions about the dangers and benefits of alcohol consumption. The film explores the complex relationship that people have with alcohol and the impact that it can have on their lives.

Our event idea
Activities: Invite some scientists who are interested in this project and streamline their research into an easy to understand psychology course/lecture to give people a taste of the benefits of alcohol, but not forgetting the dangers of alcohol abuse.
Costs: research costs, event venue hire, props purchase and production
