Botanists’ knowledge lecture – botanical illustration collection
Do you know how vodka you drinking every party made?
Vodka is typically made from grains, such as potato, corn, wheat, rye, or barley, that have been fermented and distilled. Unlike other spirits such as gin, rum, or whiskey, vodka does not require any specific botanicals or plants to be added during the production process.

However, some vodka distillers may choose to infuse their vodka with flavors from various plants or herbs, such as lemon, ginger, lavender, or vanilla. These botanicals are added to the distilled vodka and left to steep for a period of time, allowing the flavors and aromas to infuse into the spirit. This process is known as “infusion” and can add unique and interesting flavors to the final product.
So while plants are not typically a required ingredient in vodka making, they can be used to add flavor and complexity to the finished product through infusion.
