We want you to stay healthy more than you do – The Alcohol Project(Another Round)

About the film

A wild party is taking place in the streets at night, with a group of young people running and drinking with cases of alcohol, and whoever finishes all the drinks first wins the bet. This absurd party goes on from day to night, the streets are no longer silent late at night, the tram becomes a playground for their recklessness, and smoking becomes a tool for their catharsis. Word of this reached the headmaster and he decided to introduce a school-wide zero-alcohol programme, with no one allowed to drink in school. The four teachers at the bottom whispered to each other, they usually had a good personal relationship. In recent times, however, this middle-aged teacher duo has been in uncharacteristic trouble. Tommy, the PE teacher, looks at the energetic students in front of him and instead taking out the newspaper, let the time ends up silently, and the music teacher Peter looks at the soulless singing of the students in front of him, looking somewhat helpless. Psychology teacher Nikolaj’s classroom is dead, and history teacher Martin has long lost the enthusiasm of his youthful lectures, only reading from the textbook, reading from the book, as if in a lullaby, even the only student in the class who listened to the lecture could not accept it and slammed the door, so much so that parents have approached the teacher for a group interview with Martin.

Life

But he has also hit a bottleneck. Martin’s wife seems more concerned with work than his husband, his children never interact with him, and he has no meaning in his life as a member of the family, but he can only talk to his three other friends who are also in mid-life crisis, and Nikolaj’s birthday party is a rare occasion for a drink, but Martin has to drive and hardly drinks at all. The psychology teacher suggested he to drink. This is when the psychology teacher suggests that humans are born with a 0.05% alcohol deficit in their blood, which makes them more relaxed. It sounded absurd, but Martin was lost in thought, thinking about his pathetic life of depression, why not give it a try, at least there is hope than no hope at all. Martin took a sip of the vodka that the waiter in front of him had been so complimentary about, and it didn’t seem too bad. The noises around him were silenced, and all he could hear was the massage of his eardrums from the a cappella not far away. Then he drank it all down, and gradually became absorbed in the spiritual healing of alcohol, as glass after glass of wine passed over his tongue. It was only with the alcohol that he was able to let go of his worries and talk about it in front of his old friends, but the other three also shared in the sorrow and joy…….

Now the only way to let go of the pain is with wine. As the glasses of wine went down, the alcohol was swallowed and so were the worries. Gradually they began to laugh so hard that the small restaurant could no longer hold their pleasures, and the four of them drank and partied like young men in the night, unbridled and unrestrained, with happiness still lingering in Martin’s mind. He sneaks a sip of wine in the corner before class, and although it is only a small sip, the change is noticeable in him. Although his speech was a little slurred, there was an added confidence and authority about him. When Nikolaj heard about his behaviour, he excitedly gathered the other old boys, who had a crazy plan to put that 0.05% hypothesis into action. The action didn’t seem so ridiculously stupid and they used a breathalyser for accuracy. Martin’s lessons after drinking were extremely effective and they made a rigid and flawless lesson lively and interesting. It wasn’t just Martin, music teacher Peter who drew the curtains and let the emotionless singing machines hold each other’s hands and feel the sound of their souls. Apparently what was once thought to be an absurd plan seems to be really working.

Rebirth

They were extremely excited, and even though they had been discovered in the school’s wine, it still didn’t stop them from further research. The plan now came to the second step, which was to ingest different levels of alcohol for each person and see how much alcohol was needed to reach the idealised level. So early the next morning, Martin began to think about the wine. The alcohol level was so high that he couldn’t even walk in a straight line and hit his head against the wall. But the classroom atmosphere was incredibly lively and Martin seemed to be at ease in the classroom. The old Martin seemed to be back and the plan soon moved on to step three, where they decided to take things to the extreme and test the maximum alcohol level. With the music, glasses in hand and feet on the drums, the group wandered into a world free of worries and, after a good time, their minds were numbed by alcohol. They make a scene in the supermarket, go to the beach to catch cod with some broken fishing rods, then go to the bar to continue their ecstasy. The next day, a neighbour found Martin in the street with a bloody head and when he was completely sober, his wife saw him in this state and had an in-depth conversation with him. When his wife confesses to the affair, he leaves the house in a rage and chooses to numb himself with alcohol again with his brothers in an attempt to return to the state he was in last night. But this time, the alcohol brings them only endless grief.

Ending the sinking

They decided to end the programme because they had come to a conclusion. The school was taking the recent discovery of alcoholism on campus very seriously. Even the four brothers decided to stop drinking. In the blink of an eye the students reach graduation day, and before the students’ eyes is a new life, while before Tommy is a grey future. He ended his life in a hurry, hugging his dog in the sunset. The three brothers bid Tommy farewell, raising their glasses in tribute to the bitterness of life in a small glass of wine from an old friend. At the end of the day, the three teachers decided to get back on their feet and joined the party: Martin, who was suffering from a back injury, danced to the music without a care in the world, as if he were a professional dancer. In front of him is a new life without the need for alcohol.

The film had its world premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival on September 12, 2020 and was released in Denmark by Nordisk Film on September 24, 2020. It also won the BAFTA Award for Best Non-English Language Film and the European Film Award for Best Film, and was nominated for a Golden Globe Award for Best Foreign Language Film.

When one reaches middle age, everything becomes empty, exhaustion, hesitation, anger and happiness fade away along a clearly visible downward parabola. To satisfy a spiritual hunger and to escape from life, alcohol becomes the Satan that men choose with their free will to spice up their miserable lives. There is nothing wrong with wanting to change their lives, but they don’t realise that the root cause of this dogged life is not the lack of that 0.05% alcohol concentration in the human body, but their own failure to take life seriously any longer. The film’s spirited youthful revelry begins and ends with Martin dancing with his students. This is not just a film about the harmful effects of alcoholism, it is a film about redemption. The alcohol doesn’t change their lives for the worse, and after a good hangover, all that remains is the trivial, but they should have the motivation to laugh at life after the chaos and release the stress.

What others say

Sowerplave on Dec 20, 2020 said.

“Not a comedy. This is a drama digging deep into the mundane numbness of everyday life. It also digs into the human relationship with alcohol. Then, it digs into the intertwining of these. Do not expect a comedy. I made the mistake of believing that this would be a comedy, which it wasn’t. I wouldn’t even say that this is a light-hearted drama, either. Some scenes hit heavy and were just tragic to watch.I may have expected a comedy, but got a fantastic drama movie instead. I highly recommend this for anyone who wants to watch a good drama in an everyday environment.”

We as a vodka brand

We care more about our customers’ health than anyone else, and we strongly agree with the benefits and stress-releasing effects of alcohol, but alcohol should only be an occasional escape for the soul, and no one should sink into it.

Data shows that:

https://www.caron.org/blog/the-american-alcohol-problem

With the American relationship with alcohol being what it is, it’s hardly surprising that so many people suffer from an alcohol use disorder. More than 6 percent of adults in the U.S. have an alcohol use disorder, about 1 in 12 men and 1 in 25 women. An additional 623,000 people between the ages of 12 and 17 have alcohol use disorders.

About 88,000 people die of alcohol-related causes every year in the United States. It’s the third-leading cause of preventable death in the country after tobacco and poor diet and exercise choices. Unfortunately, less than 7 percent of those suffering from an alcohol use disorder seek treatment for the disease.
