Q: What causes you to connect plastics and glass with jewelry?
A: When I was in Spain, I went to a church for praying. You know what, while I looked out for the windows, I saw that the windows were really beautiful and eye-attracting. After my careful observation for about ten minutes, I eventually figured out that the materials are stained glass and wood. At that time, one of the things that crossed my mind was whether or not I might include this idea in the concept of remaking jewelry. In this way, the discarded glass and plastics that are found along the shore can be recycled and turned into one-of-a-kind works of art and handicrafts.
Q: What was the initial intent for developing this brand?
A: Encourage people to embrace nature and face the severe pollution problem. I am aware that I cannot change significantly by myself, but I can at least make some changes to the nearby seaside.
Q: How did you feel when you first saw the entire beach with plastics and glass?
A: At that moment, I found myself experiencing a sense of helplessness and melancholy. When I first saw the beach in front of me, it was very difficult for me to accept the fact that it was littered with trash, including discarded plastics and glass bottles. Which is a truly remarkable change when compared with the situation that existed ten years ago.
Q: Which age group attends more frequently?
A: We solely promote the campaign on Instagram, therefore it seems to sense that the vast majority of participants are comprised of younger people. People who do not surf the internet are likely to have no ideas what was going on.
Q: Are you willing to continue running the brand and its associated activities?
A: Yes, that is a definite yes. If you have observed on Instagram or TikTok, there is an increase in the popularity of glass jewelry during the past several months. Glass rings, earrings, necklaces, and bracelets have begun to replace pearls and crystals as major accessory materials. The concept of recycling and upcycling is a new trend in the fashion industry. And Glass jewelry will become a distinct fashion trend. Therefore, I believe if I continue to work in this field, I will certainly reap abundant profits. But what is more important is that after I gain popularity, more and more people know me, and I can tell every individual, where is the raw material from. Yes, those are not brand new but they belong to us. Those pretty pieces of jewelry are the result of humans’ daily consumption and waste. Hope this would increase awareness of the significance of recycling.
Q: Have you considered investing your profits in marine conservation organizations?
A: At the moment, we have not established connections with any pertinent institutions, however, we have been attempting to locate institutions that are suitable to carry out a series of rescue operations for the maritime environment.
Q: Have you ever cooperated with anyone or any organization?
A: We are currently in communication with a variety of sixth-form collage as well as universities. I have a great expectation that every youth will be able to take part in the project of transforming trash and waste into chic accessories. My colleague and I will share with the students in elementary and middle schools how the effects of glass and plastic on the marine ecosystem and marine life may be shared. Students in elementary and middle schools are going to be our target audience as they have fewer experiences and lessons in the necessary environmental preservation. By the way, the lecture will cover the basic knowledge of which kind of household garbage can be recycled, as well as the various categories of rubbish.
