Bronx Gym partners to make Outdoor Self-Defense Classes Campaign to Improve Teenage Mental Health:

Alan Sugar’s most recent Apprentice 2023 winner Marnie Swindells, founder of Bronx boxing gym, is now sponsoring a new campaign.

The campaign was created to get teenagers aged 13 to 19 out into the outdoors and improve their mental health. Campaign leader Raiyan Khurram created the idea of collaborating with gyms across the UK, starting with Bronx gym, to create summer outdoor self-defence classes for teenagers.

Raiyan spoke about how outdoor yoga classes have been going on for years and have always been successful with getting people out into the outdoors through exercise with nature being there to calm them. “Outdoor yoga classes have been seen to help improve people’s mental health for years so if this has been successful why can’t we do it with self-defence classes where people will also learn how to defend themselves against the dangers in the world”, says Raiyan.

This campaign will be starting this summer on Sunday June 8th, and it will be a 10-week process, ending on Sunday August 17th with the campaign classes going on every Sunday from 9am – 1pm with plenty of breaks at different locations each week to show the teenagers new nature spots around London, to encourage them to see more of the beautiful nature locations London has to offer. The first class will take place in Greenwich Park.

Bronx’s team members and local London martial arts self-defence teachers will be leading the classes each week, creating a strong community within this campaign for the teenagers to feel safe in.

To be able to join these classes you must go to Bronx’s website where they will have a link for you to sign up. Every class will only be able to have 50 students maximum with 10 coaches each session being able to have 1 coach per group of 5 to give proper attention to all students so that each student is able to get the most out of the lesson.
